Smart Hub Membership

Being a member of the Smart Hub gives you 24/7 access to;

  • public computers
  • video conferencing
  • printing facilities
  • fast and reliable wireless internet
  • a quiet place to studdy or work
  • meeting rooms for businesses and government agencies

There are four levels of membership to choose from:

  • Student Membership (from age 16+, must have proof of student status)
    • Access to General Co-work Area & Kitchenette
  • General Members
    • Access to General Co-work Area & Kitchenette
  • Local Business / Community Group Membership
    • Access to General Co-work Area, Kitchenette, and Office
  • Corporate Members (Corporations or Government Entities)
    • Access to General Co-work Area, Kitchenette, Office and Boardroom

Memberships are charged on a Quarterly Fee. If you do not come in to renew your membership each quarter, your access key will be cancelled. To become a member, complete and sign the membership form and bring to Council Reception to make payment and collect your key.

The Julia Creek Smart Hub

The Smart Hub is a fully functional, digital hub which members can access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is located at the site of the old Julia Creek Medical Centre, behind the Library at 56 Burke Street. The building has been fully refurbished and fitted with modern technologies through a project that was delivered through the "Building our Regions" program and involved a 50:50 co-contribution between McKinlay Shire Council and the Queensland Government through the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning. 

The hub officially opened in February 2021 as a tool for boosting local business capacity, facilitating property owners to better access to utliise modern technology to assist with the improvement of their farming operations and assisting both young and maature aged students with their chosen fields of research and study as a result of this collaborative digital hub. The hub consists of three main areas:

Co-Work Area:

This main area of the Smart Hub is available to all members and features a fully functional kitchenette, table seating for 18 people, high-speed wi-fi access, printing facilities and three HP Desktop All-in-One computers with pop-up webcams.

This is the perfect space to attend webinars, access online university and distance learning, or pull up with your laptop, make a cuppa, and catch up on emails.

Office:

The Smart Hub Office is available to Local Business / Community Group Members and Corporate Members only. You may also hire this venue for the day. This is the smaller of the two meeting rooms and features table seating for up to 8 people, heaps of power and data points for your personal device needs, cupboard storage, two moveable tables and an interactive flat panel computer - which gives users and interactive drawing & touch screen to;

  • allow for slideshow presentations
  • video conferencing
  • digitally draw or write on screen
  • any other uses of a computer

Smart Hub Office      Smart Hub Boardroom

 

 

Boardroom:

The Smart Hub Boardroom is available to Corporate Members only. You may also hire this venue for the day. This is the larger of the two meeting rooms and features table seating for up to 12 people, heaps of power and data points for your personal device needs, four moveable tables and an interactive flat panel computer - which gives users and interactive drawing & touch screen to;

  • allow for slideshow presentations
  • video conferencing
  • digitally draw or write on screen
  • any other uses of a computer

Need a larger meeting room? The Office and The Boardroom can combine into one large meeting room that holds up to 20 people, by folding back the operable wall.

Membership

  1. How do I sign up?
    Complete and sign this form and bring to Council Reception and staff can process your membership payment and give you an access key.
     
  2. What types of memberships are offered and is there a joining fee?
    • Student Membership (from age 16+, proof of student status required) - $60.00 per quarter
    • General Membership - $75.00 per quarter
    • Local Business/Community Group Membership - $150.00 per quarter
    • Corporate Membership (corporate businesses and government agencies) - $300.00 per quarder
    • $5.00 Card Key Fee
       
  3. What happens if I lose my access key?
    Members will need to advise Council and pay $5.00 to be issued a new access key.
     
  4. What are the Smart Hub opening hours and which of those hours are staffed?
    The Julia Creek Smart Hub is unstaffed and is accessible to our members 24/7.
     
  5. What is the minimum age of an active member?
    All members must be 16 years and over.
