McKinlay Shire has one airport located in Julia Creek. The aerodrome was certified by Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) on 20 June 2008.
Public air services with Rex Airlines operate three days per week between Julia Creek and Mount Isa and Julia Creek and Townsville. Flights can be booked through the Rex Airlines website. Private planes are also welcome.
Currently, AvGas is available for purchase at the Julia Creek Airport. Please note that the Jet A1 bowser is out of order until further notice.

Rex Airlines services Julia Creek three times per week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday's. The service leaves Townsville in the morning and stops at Hughenden, Richmond and Julia Creek before reaching Mount Isa and completing the same return journey in the afternoon. For ticketing visit www.rex.com.au
